For the big downhillers

Morzine MTB Trail Map

Use the following link to view the official Morzine MTB Trail Map. This Morzine trail map only shows a limited number of trails and doesn’t represent the full number of mtb trails available in Morzine / Avoriaz.

The Portes du Soleil region is fantastic for Morzine mountain bike holidays, whether you are interested in xc trails or downhill. With the chair lifts open to get you on your way, there are many trails for all ability levels.

Downhill Mountain Bike Trails Morzine

The Pleney bubble car takes you and your mountain bike to the top of the mountain where you can choose to ride down into Les Gets (and then over on to Mont Chery) or you can drop back into Morzine. The numerous trails down into Les Gets are enough to challenge even the most accomplished mountain bikers. Starting off open at the top with stunning mountain views, it soon descends into tight berm ridden trails and roller coaster style riding. The local trail building team put a lot of effort into the lower section of the downhill course which is nicely marked off with plenty of warning signs to be sure you know what you’re heading into. Massively high berms and tight winding trails with steep drops. Most riders on this trail are wearing full body protection made up of full face helmet and goggles, shoulder, back, chest and elbow padding as well as plenty of protection on the lower half of the body.

The trail heading back into Morzine is equally as challenging, featuring a nice collection of tight tree runs giving a refreshing break from the summer sun that can send temperatures up into the low 30’s.  A lot of water and fuel is needed to get you through a whole day on the Pleney!

Downhill Mountain Bike Trails on Mont Chery, Les Gets

If you head down the downhill section from the top of the Pleney into Les Gets, it’s a short 1 minute ride across Les Gets village to the base of the Mont Chery bubble lift that takes you up to the restaurant. From here you can take the massively fast single-track among dense pine trees back into the village of Les Gets, or you can jump on one of the two mountin bike friendly chair lifts to get access to the mountain bike/bmx park! A purpose built and fully maintained fun park for mountain bikers and bmxers. It features a huge drop off from a wooden hut, starting with a narrow wooden bridge runway leading to the top of the hut. You then drop off into a nice steep descent into a section of tight berms and jumps (there is a smaller drop to warm you up for the hut drop should you need it). The last section features a huge section of doubles of various sizes, the biggest of which requires you to clear an eight or nine foot high wooden hut for good measure.

Downhill Mountain Bike Trails Avoriaz

Heading up the Super Morzine bubble and the adjoining chairlift takes you up to an easy open section leading you into the advanced downhill course in Avoriaz. This tight singletrack route takes you down fast and steep descents into the Lindarets base of Avoriaz. This is for advanced riders only! A lot of the trail is tightly wooded pine trees with a rooty and rocky dirt track demanding plenty of concentration and skill. The middle section features a huge drop which can send you hurtling into massive pine trunks if you unable to take the tight left immediately on landing. There are huge padded orange crash barriers dotted around in this section should you fail to make the turn, but they’re only going to work so much!

Once in the Lindaret base you have access to a number of lifts and plenty more advanced mountain bike trails into the other resorts available on your Portes du Soleil pass.

Don’t forget to but good insurance and preferably a Carte Neige for no limits mountain rescue. The Carte Neige only costs around 5 euros for a weeks cover and is a sound investment should you have an accident.
